Tipitina's is one of New Orleans best-known and most beloved music halls, and where Rebecca Theim spent many happy afternoons and evenings during the six years she lived in New Orleans.
The venue's namesake is the song, "Tipitina," by legendary New Orleans blues musician Henry Roeland "Professor Longhair" Byrd, who regularly performed at Tipitina's until his death in 1980, and is honored with a brass bust in the lobby.
Tipitina's also
has established Tipitina's Foundation, a non-profit
organization that supports New Orleans music and musicians.
The
foundation has been especially active in supporting musicians victimized
by Hurricane Katrina.
Tipitina Communications is a contributor
to Tipitina's Foundation.
